Kathak is a dance form prevalent in Northern India, one of the most sophisticated, popular and the oldest of all classical dance styles in India. Rita Dance Academy is the premier Center of excellence in Indian Performing Arts emphasizing especially on the traditions that developed in northern States of India. Established in 2000, this unique institution, devoted to kathak classical dance, is situated at North Brunswick, New Jersey in United States. The Academy imparts training and conducts performances of Kathak and folk dance. The academy has taken pride to familiarize and promote the art,history and cultural heritage of India to the children settled in america through the means of Kathak dance. The institute is dedicated to promote indian culture to the children not only from north india but from various other states irrespective of their linguistic differences thus spreading nationalism among children and youth. The school emphasizes a thorough study of Kathak dance, along with the associated subjects of music, choreography and stagecraft.
